Why Exness may restrict an account
A verification-related restriction does not automatically mean your account has been permanently closed or your funds confiscated. Brokers may limit services while checking identity, residency, payment ownership, or information required under financial-crime rules.
Possible explanations include:
- Incomplete verification: A required identity, address, or profile step remains unfinished.
- Document problems: Images are blurred, cropped, expired, unsupported, or missing relevant information.
- Conflicting details: Your name, date of birth, address, or payment information does not match.
- Additional compliance checks: Exness requests information about your occupation, source of funds, or account activity.
- Security concerns: Suspected unauthorized access or unusual activity prompts a separate review.
These are possibilities, not a diagnosis. The notice in your Personal Area and the response from official support should determine your next step.
How to resolve the verification restriction
1. Confirm the exact limitation
Sign in through the official Exness website or app, rather than a link in an unsolicited message. Check verification status, notifications, and recent support emails. Record the exact error message and whether it affects one trading account or your broader account access.
If you have open positions, ask support immediately whether you can manage or close them. Do not assume a verification restriction pauses market exposure, margin requirements, or stop-out rules.
2. Check the requested documents
Follow the document types, age limits, and submission instructions shown for your country and account. Typically, useful checks include:
- Identity documents are valid, readable, and show all required edges and details.
- Address evidence displays your name, residential address, and the required issue date.
- Profile details agree with your documents, including spelling and transliteration.
- Any requested payment evidence establishes ownership through an accepted method.
Do not edit documents to conceal inconsistencies or upload someone else’s paperwork. Ask support how to handle a genuine name change, recent move, or spelling difference. Submit sensitive evidence only through an official, approved channel.
3. Request a specific support update
Repeated uploads or duplicate tickets can make correspondence harder to follow. Use one case reference where practical and ask:
> My account shows a verification restriction. Please confirm which services are restricted, what information is outstanding, whether my latest documents were accepted, and the expected next update. My case reference is [reference].
Include the submission date and a screenshot of the error, excluding passwords and sensitive payment information. Never disclose a password or one-time authentication code to someone offering to “unfreeze” the account.
4. Escalate an unresolved delay
There is no dependable review deadline that applies to every case. Straightforward document checks and enhanced compliance reviews can take different amounts of time. Ask for a case-specific estimate rather than relying on forum reports.
If the stated timeframe passes, request escalation and the formal complaints procedure for the Exness legal entity named in your client agreement. Keep copies of submissions and replies. External complaint options depend on that entity and jurisdiction; a regulator is not necessarily an individual dispute-resolution service.
Should you switch to Vantage?
Exness requesting verification is not, by itself, evidence of unfair treatment. Other regulated brokers also perform identity and compliance checks. Opening another account will not release restricted Exness funds or bypass an outstanding review.
If you are comparing brokers for future trading, Vantage is our featured alternative. Its group includes FCA- and ASIC-regulated entities, but your actual contracting entity depends on eligibility and location. Do not assume those protections apply to every Vantage account.
Vantage advertises raw spreads from 0.0 pips on eligible accounts; these are advertised minimums, not typical spreads or guaranteed execution costs. Compare commissions, swaps, currency conversion, and withdrawal conditions too. Vantage offers MT4, MT5, and TradingView access, with availability depending on the entity, account, and region.
Review the applicable legal documents and verification requirements before funding: Open a Vantage account.
CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Vantage is an advertising partner; we may earn a commission.
