Spread cost = spread × pip value
For 1 EUR/USD standard lot, a 0.0001 pip size gives USD 10 per pip. A 1-pip spread therefore costs USD 10. At an illustrative USD 3.50 commission per lot per side, the round-trip commission is USD 7 and combined cost is USD 17.
Ask minus bid, divided by pip size, gives spread in pips. These examples are not Vantage quotes. Leverage does not reduce the spread cost for the same position size.
What this estimate excludes
Market movement, slippage, changing spreads, currency-conversion markups, taxes and payment fees are excluded unless included in your inputs. Swaps use a constant nightly rate; adjust for triple-rollover days and changing rates. Commission and swap inputs must already be in account currency.
Forex pairs only: gold, crypto and other CFDs can have different contract and tick sizes. Confirm specifications in your platform.

Spread calculator questions
How do you calculate forex spread cost?
Multiply spread in pips by lots, contract units per lot and pip size. This gives the cost in the quote currency. Multiply by the quote-to-account currency rate to convert it into your account currency.
Is the spread charged twice on a round trip?
This estimate counts one full bid-ask spread for an entry and exit at unchanged mid-price and spread. Per-side commission is counted twice. Actual results vary if prices, spreads or execution change.
Are these live Vantage spreads and fees?
No. The starting numbers are illustrative examples, not Vantage pricing. Enter the spread, contract size, commission and swap from your account’s current symbol specifications and fee schedule.
Why does USD/JPY have a different pip value?
A conventional JPY pip is 0.01 rather than 0.0001. The value is first calculated in JPY, then converted into the account currency. Contract specifications must be confirmed with your broker.
CFDs are complex instruments and carry a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Consider whether you understand CFDs and can afford potential losses. This estimate is general information, not investment advice.
