Identify exactly what is disabled
Record the exact error message, where it appears, and when it started. Screenshots help, but hide account numbers and personal information before sharing them publicly.
- Personal Area inaccessible: Investigate your registered email, password, authentication method, browser session, or an account-level restriction.
- Personal Area works, but MT4/MT5 rejects the login: Check the trading account number, trading password, platform version, and assigned server.
- Platform connects, but orders are disabled: This is a trading-permission issue rather than necessarily a login failure. Possible causes include read-only access, account restrictions, or instrument-specific conditions.
Messages such as “invalid account,” “authorization failed,” and “trade disabled” are not interchangeable. Their wording alone may not establish the underlying cause.
Work through these checks in order
1. Confirm you are using the correct credentials
Open Exness through its official website or app, not a link in an unsolicited message. Your Personal Area credentials and trading-account credentials serve different purposes.
For MT4/MT5, copy the trading account number and server from the account details in your Personal Area. An MT4 account cannot be used to sign in to MT5, or vice versa. Check whether you selected a live or demo account and its corresponding server.
If you can view prices and account information but cannot trade, verify that you did not sign in with an investor/read-only password.
2. Check account status and official notices
If your Personal Area remains accessible, inspect the affected account and look for verification requests, restriction notices, or archived-account information. Inactive accounts may be archived under applicable conditions; expired demo accounts may require replacement. Confirm the current rules with Exness rather than assuming every inactive account can be restored.
Incomplete verification, eligibility changes, compliance reviews, or security concerns can also lead to restrictions. Only Exness can confirm whether one applies to you. Follow instructions inside your authenticated account and submit documents only through official channels.
3. Rule out a local connection problem
Update the official app or trading terminal, restart it, and test a reliable internet connection. For browser access, try a private window to identify a cookie or extension problem. Check official service notices for maintenance or disruption.
Do not use a VPN to circumvent country restrictions. A network change may help diagnose connectivity, but it will not resolve a genuine account suspension.
4. Reset passwords safely when appropriate
Use the official recovery process if you suspect an incorrect or compromised password. Reset the relevant credential: changing your Personal Area password does not necessarily change your trading password.
Never share passwords, one-time codes, or remote access with someone claiming to “unlock” your account. If you notice unauthorized activity, secure your email account and contact Exness immediately.
When to contact Exness support
Contact support promptly if the message explicitly says the account is disabled, verification instructions are unclear, or the checks above do not help. Provide:
- The exact error and the time it occurred, including your time zone.
- Whether Personal Area access still works.
- The affected platform, server, and account identifier through a secure support channel.
- Any recent password, device, residency, or verification changes.
Ask whether the restriction affects login, trading, withdrawals, or all three, and request the required next steps and a case reference. There is no reliable universal restoration time.
If you have open positions, tell support immediately and ask what account-management options remain available. Do not assume that losing access closes positions or stops market exposure. If unresolved, follow the formal complaints process for your contracting Exness entity.
Exness versus Vantage: an alternative to evaluate
An unexpected lockout is frustrating, but it does not by itself establish that Exness is unreliable. Security and regulatory controls can restrict access at any broker. Resolving your existing account and confirming funds access should come before switching.
Vantage is our featured alternative for traders comparing platforms and account conditions. Its group includes FCA- and ASIC-regulated entities, advertises raw spreads from 0.0 pips, and offers MT4, MT5, and TradingView connectivity, subject to entity, account, and regional availability.
Check the actual entity named in your agreement: group-level regulation does not mean every customer receives FCA or ASIC protections. Advertised minimum spreads are not typical all-in costs; compare commissions, swaps, execution conditions, and withdrawal terms. Vantage can also require verification or restrict accounts.
If eligible, review the terms before proceeding: Open a Vantage account.
CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Vantage is an advertising partner; we may earn a commission.
