Can South African residents open an Exness account?
Exness serves South African clients, subject to eligibility and compliance checks. You generally need to be at least 18 and provide accurate personal, residence and financial information.
Exness ZA (Pty) Ltd is authorised by South Africa’s Financial Sector Conduct Authority under FSP number 51024. However, a local authorisation does not mean every Exness-branded service or account has identical protections. Check the legal entity named in your client agreement and verify its permissions on the FSCA register. Regulation does not protect you against trading losses.
How to open your account
1. Register through the official website
Use the official Exness website or app, rather than a link sent by an unsolicited contact. Select South Africa as your country of residence, enter your email address and create a strong, unique password. Use your actual residence: country selection can affect account eligibility and available services.
2. Complete your profile
Inside the Personal Area, follow the prompts to verify contact details and complete your profile. Expect questions about employment, income, trading experience and source of funds. These support compliance and appropriateness checks; answer honestly rather than choosing responses intended to unlock higher leverage.
3. Submit verification documents
Typical verification requirements include:
- Proof of identity: an accepted government-issued ID or passport.
- Proof of address: an accepted bank statement, utility bill or other document showing your name and residential address.
- Additional information: source-of-funds evidence or further checks when requested.
Follow the document types and age limits displayed in your account. Upload clear, complete images with matching details. Review times vary, so do not assume verification will finish immediately or fund an account on the assumption that withdrawals are already enabled.
4. Choose a trading account
Exness typically offers Standard and professional account options, including Raw Spread and Zero, although availability and conditions can change. Compare the spread, commission, minimum funding requirement and supported platform before choosing.
MT4 and MT5 are available within the Exness offering. Select carefully because platform and account settings can affect which instruments you can trade. If ZAR is offered as an account currency, consider whether it suits your funding and reporting needs. Do not assume you can change an existing account’s base currency later.
5. Check funding and start cautiously
Open the deposit section to see payment methods currently available for your profile. Use a payment account in your own name and check deposit limits, conversion charges and withdrawal rules. Practise on a demo account before committing real money.
Minimum deposits, fees and withdrawals
There is no single minimum deposit that reliably applies to every South African Exness account. Requirements depend on account type, payment method and regional terms. The amount shown in your Personal Area is more useful than an old promotional figure.
Compare total trading costs, not just advertised spreads:
- Spread and commission: raw-spread pricing may involve a separate commission.
- Overnight charges: swap or administrative charges may apply; check any swap-free conditions.
- Currency conversion: funding in rand does not necessarily remove conversion costs.
- Withdrawals: processing depends on verification, payment-provider checks and the withdrawal route.
High leverage can magnify losses as quickly as gains. Keep position sizes manageable and remember that stop-loss orders do not guarantee execution at the requested price.
Exness versus Vantage for South African traders
Exness is worth considering if its account options, funding routes and MT4/MT5 access match your needs. Its suitability depends on the specific entity and trading conditions offered to you, rather than headline leverage or minimum spreads.
Vantage is our featured alternative. The Vantage group includes FCA- and ASIC-regulated entities, advertises raw spreads from 0.0 pips on eligible accounts, and offers MT4, MT5 and TradingView access, subject to account and regional availability. Advertised minimum spreads are not typical all-session trading costs; commissions can apply.
South African applicants should not assume they will be onboarded under the FCA- or ASIC-regulated entity. Compare the actual contracting entity, client-money arrangements, complaint route, leverage limits and withdrawal terms for both brokers.
If those conditions suit your needs, Open a Vantage account. Compare the terms first; neither broker guarantees profits.
