Opening and closing use different quote sides
The Exness source states that a market buy opens at ask and closes at bid. A market sell opens at bid and closes at ask. It also notes that volatile markets can produce slippage, with fills higher or lower than intended. A displayed chart price alone may therefore not explain the price used to close a position.
An assumed quote example
Assume the bid is 1.10000 and the ask is 1.10020. A market buy opens using ask; closing that buy uses bid. A market sell opens using bid; closing that sell uses ask. These are hypothetical quotes demonstrating the two sides, not actual Exness prices or a promised fill. The gap between them illustrates the spread without requiring any claim about typical broker spreads.
Why this matters when comparing costs
Looking only at the opening quote misses the quote side used for exit. Also separate spread from commission, swap and possible slippage. Our spread and fees calculator can estimate costs from numbers you supply; it is not a live quote feed or an execution simulator.
Trade-record checklist
- Identify whether the position was a buy or sell.
- Compare the relevant bid or ask at opening and closing.
- Read the recorded executed prices, not only a chart.
- Check separately for commission and overnight charges.
- Ask support how the chart displays quotes on your setup.
The excerpt does not establish chart settings, guaranteed stop prices or order-trigger details. Confirm those separately before drawing conclusions about a disputed fill.

Considering Vantage instead?
Compare the same feature, total costs and account terms rather than assuming a different broker is automatically better. Our Vantage review and broker comparisons offer a starting point. Ask Vantage for the written rule for your selected account; the Exness rules above do not establish Vantage's terms.

The referral may lead to an international account; it does not guarantee FCA-regulated UK retail terms or equivalent protections.
