First, check whether Exness offers the CAC 40
The CAC 40 tracks 40 leading companies listed in Paris. Trading an index CFD gives you exposure to price movements without owning the constituent shares. Your broker’s quote may differ from the published cash index because of pricing methodology, financing and trading hours.
Before depositing, search Exness’s current instrument list and your platform’s symbol catalogue. A generic “indices” category does not establish CAC 40 availability. If you cannot find it, ask support rather than assuming another European index is equivalent.
Confirm these specifications:
- Exact instrument name and underlying reference.
- Trading sessions, daily breaks and holiday adjustments.
- Contract size, minimum volume and euro value per point.
- Typical spread, any commission and overnight financing.
- Margin requirements, stop-out rules and order restrictions.
Exness may suit traders who value its MT4/MT5 access and available CFD range. However, familiar platforms and competitive advertised conditions on other instruments do not establish suitability for this particular trade.
A CAC 40 opening-range breakout strategy
1. Define the session and opening range
The Paris cash equity session normally opens at 09:00 Paris time and closes with a closing auction around 17:30. Broker CFD hours can extend beyond that window. Use the Europe/Paris time zone to handle daylight-saving changes rather than relying on a fixed UTC offset.
Mark the high and low from 09:00 to 09:15 on a five-minute chart. This opening range provides reference levels, not proof that a breakout will succeed.
Check the economic calendar before trading. ECB decisions, European inflation releases and major company news can change volatility sharply. A conservative rule is to avoid new entries immediately around scheduled high-impact releases.
2. Require a breakout and retest
For a long setup, wait for a five-minute candle to close above the range high. Then require a pullback toward that level and a subsequent candle closing back above it. Enter only after that confirmation. Reverse the rules for shorts below the range low.
Skip the setup if the move runs away without a retest. Also skip unusually wide opening ranges or spreads large enough to materially distort the trade’s risk. Set those filters during testing, not after seeing the outcome.
3. Define risk before entering
Place the initial stop beyond the retest swing, allowing for normal price noise and the bid–ask spread. Calculate size from the actual stop distance rather than choosing an arbitrary lot size.
Position size = cash risk ÷ (stop distance in points × value per point per lot).
For illustration, a €5,000 account risking 0.5% has a €25 risk budget. With a 25-point stop and an assumed €1-per-point contract, one contract uses that budget before costs. Actual contract specifications, currency conversion and minimum trade sizes may make this position unsuitable. Stops can slip, so losses can exceed the planned amount.
4. Use predetermined exits
Test an initial target of twice the planned risk, commonly called 2R. Skip entries when a nearby prior-session high or low leaves insufficient room. Consider limiting the plan to one attempt per day and closing before the cash session ends to avoid overnight exposure.
Record results after spreads, commissions and slippage. Review win rate, average gain versus loss and drawdown across different market conditions. A demo test of 50–100 qualifying setups is a useful starting sample, not evidence of guaranteed future profitability.
Exness versus Vantage for this approach
The right broker is the one offering the required instrument under acceptable execution terms and protections—not simply the highest leverage.
Vantage is our featured alternative. The group includes FCA- and ASIC-regulated entities, but your account may be assigned to a different entity depending on residence and eligibility. Check the legal entity before opening; protections are not identical across jurisdictions.
Vantage advertises raw spreads from 0.0 pips on eligible products and account types. That headline is not a typical CAC 40 spread; index costs must be checked separately, including any commission. Vantage offers MT4, MT5 and TradingView access, subject to account and regional availability. Confirm CAC 40 availability on your intended platform as well.
Compare both brokers using live-session spreads, contract sizes, financing, execution and withdrawal terms. If Vantage meets your requirements, Open a Vantage account.
