Exness vs FBS: the reliability verdict
Choose the broker offering stronger enforceable protections in your country. If both place you with offshore entities, there is no sound basis for declaring a universal winner from their brand names alone. Compare their current client agreements, withdrawal terms and complaint procedures before depositing.
Reliability has several parts: financial oversight, treatment of client money, trading execution and access to withdrawals. A broker can offer fast payments without providing the same legal protections as an entity regulated in a stricter jurisdiction.
Regulation: check your actual contracting entity
Exness
Exness operates through multiple regulated entities. Its group includes FCA- and CySEC-regulated entities, but those licences should not be assumed to cover an ordinary retail account: Exness’s UK and Cyprus entities do not provide retail trading services. Retail clients elsewhere may contract with different group entities, subject to local eligibility.
This distinction matters. A regulator’s logo on a group website does not mean your account receives UK compensation arrangements or European retail leverage restrictions.
FBS
FBS also needs to be assessed by legal entity and jurisdiction. Do not rely on historical reviews or licensing claims referring to a different regional business. Read the legal name in the registration journey and client agreement, then verify that name and website domain against the relevant regulator’s register.
For either broker, check:
- Whether the licence covers retail forex and CFDs.
- How client money is held and whether segregation is required.
- Whether negative balance protection applies, and its exceptions.
- Whether an independent dispute process or compensation scheme covers you.
Segregated funds are not a guarantee against losses or insolvency. Compensation eligibility, where available, also has conditions and limits.
Withdrawals and operational reliability
Exness promotes automated withdrawal processing for eligible transactions. That can be convenient, but automated processing is not a guarantee of instant receipt. Identity checks, payment-provider schedules and compliance reviews can delay access.
Apply the same scrutiny to FBS. Check which withdrawal methods are available in your country, whether funds must return to the original payment source, and whether fees or currency conversion apply.
Before committing a substantial balance:
- Complete verification using accurate personal details.
- Read deposit, withdrawal and inactivity terms.
- Make a small deposit and test a withdrawal.
- Contact support with a specific account-protection question.
A successful test is useful evidence of functionality, not proof that every future withdrawal will be trouble-free. Online reviews can reveal recurring issues, but individual complaints or high ratings do not establish overall reliability.
Trading costs and execution
Both brands offer MetaTrader-based trading, with platform and account availability depending on your entity. Compare the actual account specifications rather than assuming every account has identical conditions.
Exness offers different account structures, including spread-only and commission-based options in eligible markets. FBS’s available pricing and account conditions should likewise be checked on its local website.
An advertised minimum spread is not your usual trading cost. Compare typical spreads for your preferred pairs, commissions, overnight financing and conversion charges. Slippage and spread widening during news can affect either broker. Higher leverage does not make a broker more reliable; it increases exposure to rapid losses.
Featured alternative: Vantage
Vantage is worth comparing if your priority is access to an appropriately regulated entity and a choice of platforms. Its group includes FCA- and ASIC-regulated entities, although your residence determines which entity may accept you. These protections do not automatically extend to every Vantage account worldwide.
Vantage advertises raw spreads from 0.0 pips on eligible accounts, with commissions applicable. This is an advertised minimum, not a typical all-in cost or a guarantee. MT4, MT5 and TradingView are available within its offering, subject to account and regional eligibility.
Compare its client agreement against Exness and FBS before deciding. An ASIC-regulated account, for example, should not be assumed to have the same compensation arrangements as an eligible UK account.
Bottom line
Exness is a credible candidate, but it is not universally safer than FBS. Prioritise verified regulation for your specific account, clear withdrawal rules and manageable trading risk. Consider Vantage on the same criteria—not simply because it is our featured alternative.
